ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS 2008-2009
Auditions will be held Tuesday, 9/16 - 9/19
Please come prepared with the following scales and music.
Auditions for placement in orchestra and co-curricular string groups will be held starting September 16, 2008 and ending September 19. These auditions will be the first performance part of your grade and provide a base performance level on which to base your improvement throughout the year. I expect that you will work hard to perform at the best of your ability.
Following is the audition material for each instrument:
Violin:
G Major scale and arpeggio (at least 2 octaves into 3rd position, 3 octaves prefered)
C Melodic minor scale (2 octaves)
Viola:
C Major scale and arpeggio (at least 2 octaves into 3rd position, 3 octaves prefered)
C Melodic minor scale (2 octaves)
Cello:
C Major scale and arpeggio (at least 2 octaves, 3 octaves prefered))
C Melodic minor scale (2 octaves)
Bass:
E Major scale and arpeggion (2 octaves prefered)
C Melodic minor scale (1 octaves)
All:
Two short excerpts in contrasting styles (Provided in class)
